Student cutting paraffin sections on microtome.

Students are a very integral aspect to the functioning of the Van Winkle Lab. They provide daily assistance and carry out a wide range of experiments in order to keep things running smoothly. The students are there from the beginning to end of most projects and often start the process with sample collection and processing. By using a wide range of microscopes and imagining techniques, the students are able to provide crucial data and gain practical hands on research lab experience. We train undergraduate students, summer research fellows, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in inhalation toxicology and lung histopathology.
