“Exploring the toxicology and pathobiology
of the lung using cellular and molecular approaches”
The Van Winkle Laboratory investigates the effects of environmental pollution on the lung. In particular we are interested in how exposure to lung toxicants leads to lung disease and alters normal lung biology. Pollutants under investigation include: ozone, allergens, tobacco smoke, particulate matter and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons such as naphthalene.
